Jin from South Korea goes from INTO CSU to Business Administration

Why did you choose to study at CSU?

“I chose to study at CSU in order to register for Business Administration. When I came to CSU I knew I could focus, enhance my concentration and better focus on my major.”

What is the most important lesson you have learned during your study abroad experience?

“When I first came here I was trying to get out of my comfort zone, because I wanted to improve my English and gain experience. If I stayed in my comfort zone and just talked with people from my own country, then I wouldn’t have a chance to improve my English. I learned to be more active, ask my American friends questions, be friendly and make some friends.”

How has the Pathway program helped you overall as a CSU student?

“The Pathway program has really helped me with several things. They helped with registration and they helped me with citation when I first came here. I really didn’t acknowledge citation and it’s really important; however, since I have some problems with citation, they helped me with how to cite and how to distinguish between MLA and APA, which really has helped me with my writing.”

What has been your favorite part of INTO CSU?

“Since most classes are composed of international students, I can interact with different cultures and learn from them. The class levels don’t go too fast since we’re international, and my friends helped me to correct mistakes. That’s been really helpful.”

What do you like to do in your free time outside of class?

“I normally go to the Rec Center and play basketball with friends. I also try to find delicious food because I love to eat. What I really like about Colorado is they have bacon jerky. I recommend it to people to try that, too.”

What surprised you the most about CSU?

“The most surprising thing about CSU was the stadium. When I first came here I saw a really big stage and I didn’t know if it was a building or something, but it was a big stadium. I was so impressed and when the football games are held there I went and there were so many people cheering for their team. I was excited to cheer with them.”

Would you recommend INTO CSU?

“I recommend it for all the international students who first start attending a university in the US. Going outside of your country feels so weird and strange, but INTO CSU programs can help you with studies and registration.”

What goals do you have for the future?

“I want to create my own company and then I want to make a non-profit organization. There are so many people that want to have education, but they can’t do it because of their financial problems. I want to help those children with their education and successes in life.”
